Pond Walk Story Time in the Richard Lavallee Storyteller Garden

Pond Walk by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace

Gr. PreK-3 Buddy and Mama Bear head for Pete s Pond, where they enjoy observing the animals and plants. Like any good naturalist, Buddy makes drawings in his notebook and labels them. Armed with a handy field guide, Mama answers Buddy s questions, offers facts about pond life, and exchanges riddles with her son. The colorful collage illustrations combine elements of cut paper, photos, and colored pencils. A simple craft project is appended. Written with an understanding of what will interest children this picture book from Buddy Bear series provides an accessible introduction to ponds and their inhabitants.

Moms enjoying the morning sunshine.

Children got to explore the garden with magnifying glasses. Guess what they found in our little pond?

Two frogs.

A lovely morning to have story time in the Richard Lavallee Storyteller Garden Keene Public Library.

One of the many sun flowers in the garden.
