Fire Fighter Day

Today the Otonabee-South Monaghan Fire Department will join our Story Time group.  We are going to finish our firefighters hat and then listen to our story called: If I could drive a Fire Truck written by Michael Teitelbaum and illustrated by Uldis Klavins and Jeff Walker.

A young girl describes all the work she would do if she drove a fire truck. Susan goes to visit her Grandma and takes her favourite fir truck to play with as she goes to visit her Grandma.  Susan imagines what her day would be like as a fire fighter.

Please join us for fun, songs and a special visit with our Firefighters.

Word is out that rough, tough Big Bro is coming. The news spreads quickly through the jungle, sending all the animals into hiding. Finally, brave mouse volunteers to creep out and have a look, returning with the warning that he is indeed coming! When tiny mouse's older sibling appears, all the animals are humiliated. Nevertheless, the "Boo" that Big Bro roars manages to startle them all, and they concede to little mouse that he is indeed rough and tough.
Come join us for this fun story, learn how to make an elephant noise, sing silly songs like "If You Should Meet an Elephant", and more.  We will also be creating special animal crafts. See you here at 10 a.m.

Again! by Emily Gravett.  It's nearly Cedric the dragon's bedtime -- there's just time for his mum to read him his favourite book. Unfortunately for her, Cedric likes the story so much that he wants to hear it again . . . and again . . . and again . . . with incendiary consequences! A typically clever and quite irresistible book from a star talent.

This story is a great book for young children.  They love to hear their favourite story told my parents and caregivers over and over.  Again!encompasses the Narrative Skills that encourage children to listen to this wonderful story as baby dragon anxiously waits to hear his special book.

We will be creating a special craft for the children to give to Mom's for Mothers Day.  Please come and join us as we hear our wonderful story and sing our silly songs over and over again!
