Our story this week is "The Bears We Know" by Brenda Silsbe.  Does anyone really know the bears next door? Every neighbourhood has its black sheep... but this one has bears. Well, nobody has actually seen the inhabitants of the house at the end of the road, but that doesn't stop the gossip about The Bears We Know. In colourfully mischievous illustrations, readers are invited to see for themselves these ursine neighbours living life as they see fit. They sleep late every day, and their house is a mess. They eat bagfuls of chips, and they jump on the furniture. They sing songs that make them cry, and they stay up way too late. Also, they growl if anyone gets too close, so nobody visits. But you don't need to visit to know all about these bears... right? Originally published as a mini-book, The Bears We Know is back in a full-sized format with new illustrations that highlight the hijinks of these unsavoury neighbours. This playful story promises to charm even as it challenges with the question "Does anybody really know their next-door neighbours?"

Our book this week is from "Tumble Books"  Tumble books is available on our Kids page of our website.  Or you can click on this link

Tuesday Summer Reading Program

Tuesday August 18 2015
10 a.m. Ages 0-6
Play Under the Sea
Cost $2.00 per Child
Our story this week is The Fish Who Could Wish by John Bush.   Deep in the ocean lives a fish whose wishes come true! He wishes for all sorts of crazy things - a castle, a car, and even fine clothes to wear. But he is a rather foolish fish and one day he wishes to be just like all the other fish . . . perhaps this will be the one wish he wishes he never wished! The rhythmical text is great to read aloud and Korky Paul's illustrations take to you to a crazy underwater world. With its neat punchline, this is a book that children will just love to hear (and join in with) over and over again.

Today is our last day for summer reading program.  Thank you to all who have participated in our weekly fun.

We will be taking next week off from story time.  Our regular story time will resume Tuesday September 1st.  at 10 a.m.

Play Under the Sea
Tuesday July 7 & 14.
10 a.m.

Our summer reading program started with a great group of children ranging in ages 0-6.  We had 27 here to listen to our wonderful story and sing our silly under the sea songs.  For our craft on the 7th we created a toilet paper roll octopus and heard the story Octopus's Garden by Ringo Star.

Today July 14th we heard the story "Pout Pout Fish" written by Deborah Diesen, we sang our sea songs then we went out to Rich's Story Tellers Garden to play with bubbles.  Once we were done playing with bubbles we then came back into the library and made fish.  We sure had lots of fun.

A special thanks to one of our mom's for "Paying It Forward One for James."  Our mom does not go to the local coffee shop so in honor of James' birthday all our children today were able to attend for no charge.

Pictures to follow......

Our story this week is Parts by Tedd Arnold.  I just don't know what's going on, or why it has to be, but every day it's something worse! What's happening to me? So begins this uproarious story from the best-selling creator of No Jumping on the Bed!,Green Wilma , and other popular books. The young narrator has discovered a disturbing trend: There's fuzz in his belly button his toes are peeling and something just fell out of his nose. The last straw is a loose tooth, which convinces him of the awful truth his parts are coming unglued! Parts deals with a subject of deepest interest to every young child: the stuff our bodies shed. Parents will appreciate the reassuring message that it's all quite normal, while Tedd Arnold's comical illustrations and rhyming text are guaranteed to make young readers laugh their heads off.
